After they have
succumbed to the
desire again, as so many do, and the
phenomenon of
craving develops, they
pass through
the well-
known stages of a
spree,
emerging remorseful, with a
firm resolution not to
drink
again.
But when he gets over the
spree, he
begins to
think once more how
he can
drink moderately
next time.
8.
Following every
spree, he
would say to himself, "Maybe those
A.A.'s were
right. ..."
Friends who have
reasoned with him after a
spree which has brought him to the
point of
divorce or
bankruptcy are
mystified when he
walks directly into a
saloon.
